Dr. Christopher Pitt is World Vision International’s Senior Vice President for Organizational Effectiveness. He holds a BA (Honors) in Politics and Philosophy, a PhD in business strategy and ethics from Cambridge University and is a Chartered Civil Engineer. Chris has a varied career in business and the NGO sector with experience in corporate strategy and re-engineering, corporate governance, micro finance and economic regeneration. He has raised significant equity and venture capital for major projects and micro finance institutions. Chris is a retired Air Force officer and has been the CEO of various companies. A visiting lecturer at several universities he has published on business ethics, project portfolio management, micro-finance, business re-engineering and corporate governance and strategy.
Chris was World Vision International’s Middle East & European director of operations, director for micro economic development and the country director for World Vision Romania where he led a $36m annual program. Chris moved to World Vision International’s California headquarters in February 2005 to lead the organizations’ re-engineering and culture change project. He was appointed the SVP for Organizational Effectiveness in January 2007. His focus and passion is on innovation, social impact investing and strategic business partnerships, and the intersection of these ideas in providing a dynamic response to the needs of the poor and disenfranchised in this hurting world. He currently lives with his Russian born wife Marina in Pasadena, CA.
